HEALTH
HOGAR SAN PEDRO, a small health centre that was founded by Father Menard in 1979 is celebrating this year its 30 years of existence. Situated at forty kilometres from Lima, Hogar answers the needs of the sick who are penniless of regions that are closest and even further away. The patients receive adequate care and moral as well as spiritual support.
Since 2003, Hogar San Pedro has practically turned over a new leaf. Several constructions and renovations have allowed the improvement of living conditions of the patients and facilitate the work load of the personnel and volunteers. Moreover, in 2007, the medical personnel that has been in place for many years has been able, thanks to the Foundation, to participate in a formation allowing them to update their knowledge and techniques.
Since April 2010, Father Adolfo Doroteo, M.S.A., is Director General. In his new function, he is looking after the health of both body and soul. He is assisted in this admirable work by another chaplain and a team of about 40 persons who contribute all the necessary services.
Hogar can easily receive up to sixty patients who are fed, housed and cared for, while the out patient clinic sees and cares for about three thousand persons a year.
